Spanish Art and Culture

Goya and El Greco come to mind as past masters, but don’t forget, although El Greco became famous as a Spanish based artist (In Toledo), as the name implies he was born a Greek!

Moving to more recent times the power of the names Picasso and Dali reign supreme. These two artists probably did more to influence what we see today than any others of their generation. We could postulate that Dali had an immense influence on ‘Pop Culture’ as can be seen with many of the music album covers of the 1960’s and 70’s.

Can we forget Gaudi? No, and just today, in our lifetimes, his final masterpiece la Sagrada Familia is close to completion in Barcelona!

Combine art history with your linguistic tour, or a 100% art themed tour, Spain has a rich and long artistic history to draw upon.
